With so many ways to use your ingenuity, chances are you'll do your best work here.   We are seeking a full-time Senior Aviation Systems and Human Factors Engineer at our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a definition of new features for pilot interfaces of sophisticated avionics systems through coordination of stakeholder input, ensuring consistency with user interface guidelines and managing software change requests for integrated flight deck programs and/or retrofit product lines. Other essential functions include:  Serves in leadership capacity to define new features including coordination of stakeholder input including flight operations or customer test pilots, technical research, competitive analysis, writing system design/description documentation, and creating associate software change requests Leads efforts to ensure consistency using Garmin aviation user interface guidelines, user interface reviews, providing UI training to software engineers, and solicits feedback to improve guidelines as needed Maintains and improves simulation and test capabilities of system benches and flight simulator labs Prioritizes, defines, and performs system level bench testing of complex software changes and new functionality Identifies areas of aviation and human factors training needs within the aviation software team and develops and implements training to addresses the needs Leads development, coordination and execution of human factors evaluations Defines and performs system level regression testing leveraging advanced knowledge of areas to focus on based on changes Advanced ability to identify complex software issues and create software change requests that define necessary changes and steps to recreate problems Demonstrates expert level systems and human factors support for multiple software Change Control Board meetings Independently performs technical market research and analysis in support of product definition and/or business development initiatives  ','!*!Qualified candidates possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Human Factors, Math or Physics from a four-year college or university AND a minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience OR Master of Science Degree in the fields noted above or another related field AND a minimum of 3 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Other requirements include:Demonstrates advanced working knowledge of aviation, avionics, and industry standards, guidance material, and regulationsDemonstrates proficient knowledge of aviation industry and competitionStrong working knowledge of aviation human factors and associated guidance and regulatory materialDemonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsDesirable SkillsPilot’s license, preferably with instrument and commercial ratingsCorporate jet or commercial airline experienceExperience with competitor integrated flight decks and flight management systemsRotorcraft experienceFlight Test Engineering experience on integrated flight decksDesign, development, or support of commercial flight simulatorsFlight Simulator instructorDemonstrates expert level knowledge of Garmin Integrated Flight Decks and advanced proficient knowledge of all Garmin aviation products is highly preferred!Our benefits are designed to lead an evolving marketplace, support innovation and encourage a healthy balance between work and life.
