The Lead Scrum Master coordinates an agile development team, ensures all activities use the principles of the Scrum Framework. The Lead Scrum Master works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Against that backdrop, Humana is seeking a Release Train Engineer (RTE) to join the Associate Technology Experience Team (ATX). This team has a strong focus on associate experience and technology modernization but also a focus on culture and operations - to embrace modern cloud-based technologies and engineering, agile ways of working & Agile methodologies, DevOps, and a culture that is focused on enterprise leadership, our customers and our associates.

The Release Train Engineer (RTE) / Agile Coach work includes creating tools and leading training sessions specific to the needs of the Associate Technology Experience Team (ATE) release train in order to demonstrate how leaders and associates will apply Agile methodologies in their day-to-day work. This associate will guide the ATX through its Agile transition and drive continued adherence to optimal Agile work practices. The RTE will also promote a culture of innovation by implementing Agile processes and principles which include techniques to increase collaboration, predictability, transparency and velocity. Will provide on-going iteration management for high profile initiatives to provide real-time coaching as well as to gather and share Agile best practices.

Responsibilities of the RTE are as follows:

Function as the point of contact, orchestrator and coach for the program, and facilitation of prioritized deliverables across all impacted areas

Build and foster an environment to promote self-organizing, high performing teams through strong communication, team involvement, talent development, and effective communication and leadership

Manage and optimize the flow of value through the Agile Release Train (ART) by working with the Portfolio and Program teams to facilitate identification of all work items, making work visible, and matching demand to capacity

Work with the ART Product Managers, Enterprise Architecture, Technical Leaders, Product Owners, and other key stakeholders to help ensure strategy and execution alignment

Work with the ART to identify risks, impediments/bottlenecks, and dependencies. Lead the ART in creating plans to address these by providing visibility and escalation as needed and to ensure the teams can delivery on their commitments

Establish & facilitate the ART Program Increments (PI) ceremonies/events on a recurring and predictable cadence

Create or summarize the ART PI objectives and publish for visibility and transparency. Provide timely and accurate information and status updates to functional leaders.

Track feature progress and assist in providing insights into the value delivered by the ART, as well as, radiating opportunities to optimize delivery

Facilitate feature estimation and the roll-up to Epics to set delivery expectations with the portfolio

Track and operate within the ART budget and ensure adherence to guardrails, policies, and standards. Monitors delivery and recommends schedule changes, cost adjustments and resource additions

Facilitate and coach the ART in implementing agile methods to improve the flow of value, seek relentless improvement, and solve for local and systemic problems impeding delivery

Ensure the ART has the necessary skillsets needed to deliver on the defined priorities

Make decisions on moderately complex issues regarding the technical approach for project components, and the majority of his / her work is performed with minimal direction

Exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and an approach to their assignments

Manage and optimize the flow of value through the program using various tools recommended by Humana's Agility COE

Attend System Demos and Solution Demos

Drive continuous improvement via Inspect and Adapt workshops; assess the agility level of the program/value stream and help improve

Encourage Team Level, program level, and value stream level Continuous Integration and Communities of Practice around SAFe, Agile, and Lean

Being a servant leader with the ability to apply systems thinking and lead an organization through organizational change by gaining trust, respect, and support

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

5 years of Healthcare, Information Technology, or similarly-related experience

2 years of Agile leadership experience

Certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) or similar certification

Certified SAFe Release Train Engineer or similar certification

Highly skilled in Agile methodology

Familiarity with Azure DevOps

Excellent organizational, time management and communication skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where continuous innovation is desired

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize data and deliver a clear overview of strategy, opportunity and risks to diverse audiences

Passion for building inclusive experiences where people of all backgrounds see themselves represented in your work

Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

7 years of Healthcare, Information Technology, or similarly-related experience

Familiarity with Jira Align
