Learn more about Splunk careers and how you can become a part of our journey!As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play an important role in the success of our data integration strategy that directly impacts critical internal business processes that run our $3B and growing business.This position requires you to be a self-starter with the ability to take ownership, prioritize, and handle various tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive demeanor. In addition, strong verbal communication and written documentation skills are a must for this role for promoting ideas throughout the business to both technical and non-technical audiences.ResponsibilitiesWrite backend code for Splunk search infrastructure.Build robust, fault-tolerant distributed systems in a multi-threaded/multi-process environment.Analyze and improve the scalability of data collection, routing, storage and retrieval.Scale data-intense problems horizontally rather than vertically.Define and perform various search language layer optimizations/transformations.RequirementsMaster knowledge of developing and debugging any object oriented language like C or JavaHave knowledge and experience with AWS services, like EC2, S3 etc.Have experience crafting, building and delivering software as a service.Have a strong foundation in backend systems, storage, filesystem, memory, multi threading is a plus.Have familiarity with any query language like SQL, SPL etc.Have a proven foundation in data structures, algorithms, software design.You have knowledge of modern distributed system design and implementation.Preferred Knowledge and ExperienceYou have 12 years of professional software engineering and architecture experience.EducationYou have a BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science or related engineering degree.We value diversity at our company.
