The primary purpose of this position is to lead all engineering activities and establish a culture of process improvement. The Industrial Engineering Manager will work with the 3PL & Operations teams to improve efficiency, maintain labor standards, and reduce costs. Their expertise will also be used to develop and implement regional and national projects and strategies across all of our divisions.
The IE Manager will:
*Establish, build and maintain strong relationships with multiple 3PL partner providers on both East and West Coast *Identify and isolate the source of production and productivity bottlenecks in the 3PL DC network and makes justified recommendations for their elimination/reduction *Contribute to Best Practice recommendations and justifications, incorporating universal processes that may be utilized network-wide across both TJX and 3PL DCs *Design, recommend, and justify process improvement and capital changes to the 3rd Party Logistics DC Network *Perform total cost analysis of processing types and product types within the DC, including labor, materials, impact on shrink, damages, and flow *Conduct, monitor, and document controlled comparative tests and prototypes within the 3PL DCs *Complete justification with all data at an ROI/IRR level *Accountable for improving labor management tracking and reporting within the 3PL operations *Design methods and process steps for all major tasks within the 3PL operation, including work station design and job aids *Design, develop, train, and implements labor staffing and balancing models utilizing labor productivity and business volume data *Contribute to 3PL contract negotiation process through process costing data analysis and business case development
The IE Manager must have:
*5+ Years in Industrial Engineering in distribution/supply chain environment, preferably within a 3PL context *4 year degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or similar equivalent degree *Travel 25-50%, with multiple trips annually to 3PL sites in LA Metro area and TJX DC locations nationwide *Experience with Tier 1 WMS packages a plus *Advanced business case development and presentation skills *Knowledge of database/ analytics software (Access, SQL, etc.) *Additional training via seminar or graduate level courses in Lean and/or 6-Sigma *Basic knowledge of material handling technology *Time study/standards creation experience preferred (MOST, digital stopwatch, etc.)
