Crestron is looking for a talented individual to fill the position of SMT Process Engineer. This position is located at Crestron\u2019s state of the art circuit board assembly plant in Orangeburg, NY. You will be relied upon to plan and execute all levels of routine maintenance and higher level service on SMT production equipment in an automated SMT production facility. Participation in the programming of SMT placement equipment, AOI inspection and related machines. You will be an essential player working with a dynamic manufacturing team, filling a role that provides a challenging and rewarding career opportunity.
Plan and execute all levels of routine maintenance and higher level service on SMT production equipment in an automated SMT production facility
Establish service and maintenance intervals, procedures and logs
Trouble-shoot root cause and repair of production equipment
Develop and manage spare parts inventory control processes for new & existing equipment.
Identify and procure all necessary tools and service equipment.
Participate in equipment evaluation and selection with engineering and management staff.
Develop strong relationships with equipment manufacturer and their service teams.
Assist in developing best practices for machine operations for operator training.
SMT placement equipment backup programming and support
AOI machine back up programming and support
SMT Feeder maintenance and coordination for service
Set up new PC board process specifications for SMT assembly and key point inspection criteria
Provide guidance for Aegis work instruction development and maintenance for PCB processing and inspection
Identify mismatches between ECAD data and SAP BOM reports
Report receipts of materials not packaged or order-configured for automated placement
Participate in SMT stencils selection including fiducial and aperture requirements
Identify methods to increase throughput and maintain downstream expected quality levels
Utilization of X-ray inspection and optical inspection systems for process verification
Utilize data from SPI machines to improve the solder paste print process
Strive to eliminate hand placement activities of SMT components at post placement
Identify the need for SMT fixtures and procurement
Highly effective equipment management skills.
A proven problem solver with technical decision making skills
Strong mechanical aptitude with electrical/electronic diagnostics ability.
Proactive in identifying and resolving small issues before they become big ones.
Self-starter that can achieve results with minimal supervision, true sense of urgency.
The ability to work in a collaborative team environment
Possess excellent oral and written communications skills
Experience in the support of automated SMT production equipment from a variety of suppliers. Includes equipment such as; stencil printers, pick and place (Panasonic a plus), component feeders, board conveyors, reflow ovens, AOI, X-Ray inspection, stencil washers and component bake out ovens.
Bachelors of Science degree in engineering preferred; ME, ET, EE.
4 years operational experience with SMT programming and process parameter development
Knowledge of ECAD, PADS, GERBER, Minitab, ODB , Gerber, DXF
Working knowledge of IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, J-STD-001
