Responsibilities include the functional management of an Electrical Engineering department focusing on FPGA design and implementation across the Electronics Segment.

The Electrical Engineering/FPGA Director is responsible for leading approximately 80 Electrical Engineers that support the Harris Electronics Segment. This includes supervision and leading of the Engineering organization including planning, development, and execution of all Engineering tasking on projects, pursuits, and programs related to FPGA design and implementation. The Director will also provide coaching and leadership development for a staff of Group Leaders.

Understand FPGA technologies, different FPGA devices, and design and development process

Knowledgeable in signal processing and has experience in FPGA-based signal processing design

Be accountable for FPGA performance across the Electronics Segment and own the design and development process (including tools and process flows) for FPGA designs. This will include FPGA-based signal processing

Drive engineering productivity performance, improvements, and measures, and implement enduring corrective actions for design escapes

Meet functional requirements of staffing, recruiting, training, talent development, engagement, retention, and overall management of FPGA design and analysis

Proactively collaborate with Engineering Managers from other disciplines and across Electrical Engineering to support business demands across the Electronics Segment

Meet functional organization Annual Operating Plan direct labor revenue targets

Hold weekly one on one meetings with direct staff to build relationships and provide feedback and coaching

Perform risk assessments on programs within the Electronics Segment

Support pursuits and proposals in the business, including review/approval of technical proposals and Basis of Estimates as needed.

Provide technical evaluation and oversight of program execution. Lead technical issue resolution when required. Participate and form Independent Review Teams to conduct technical review and oversight.

Lead department-level talent development, including technical and leadership succession planning, and implement knowledge transfer initiatives

Manage department budgets and identify department training required

This position reports to the Sr Director of Engineering Operations in Electronics Systems

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field and 15 years of relevant experience, OR Master's Degree and 12 years of relevant experience, OR equivalent

Minimum of 10 years’ experience with Signal Processing design/analysis and DSP design tools

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in FPGA architectures for DSP, FPGA timing closure, and design/analysis/simulation techniques

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in leading/managing Electrical Engineers or Engineering designs

Active Secret clearance with ability to obtain Top Secret clearance

Active TS/SCI or TS-Equivalent preferred
