Structural Design Engineers (Level 4) to help us solve our customer’s toughest problems. Our Structural Designer Engineers use their enthusiasm, curiosity and creativity to solve challenging problems that connect with the goals of the project, program, business units, and the enterprise. Boeing Structural Design Engineer your duties will include developing, maintaining, and modifying mechanical component and installation designs using 3-D Computer Aided Engineering tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Structural designers play a key role in creating innovative solutions that move individual teams, Boeing, and our customers forward. These positions are located in both Mesa, Arizona and Ridley Park, Pennsylvania.

Develops, integrates and documents structural requirements to establish the system design.
Creates, maintains and modifies structural component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools (NX/Teamcenter, CATIA/Enovia…), 2-D drawings and/or other design methods.
Experience with detail, assembly and installation definition.
Investigates emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs and meet projected requirements.
Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly principles.
Experience managing supplier development, test and production activities, including supplier coordination to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
Demonstrated interpersonal skills and teaming with adjacent disciplines (systems engineering, structural analysis, production operations, quality, configuration management, test…), program management and external customers.
Work under limited supervision and within multi-discipline teams. May act in a technical lead role.
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Experience working with aircraft structure, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes.
Experience working with structural design principles and practices from requirements to production and product support.
Experience using computer aided design tools (CAD) and processes.
Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience working with structural engineering fundamentals including airframe/component design and materials.
Experience working with Aerospace platforms.
Experience effectively communicating and collaborating on multi-discipline teams.
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural or Civil Engineering field.
Experience in structural design and manufacturing processes from the conceptual layout phase through build-to-package release.
Experience with three-dimensional parametric modeling experience using NX/Teamcenter or CATIA/ENOVIA methods and tools.
Experience with designing for manufacturing for structural metallic and composite components and experience in manufacturing.
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
