The Harley-Davidson Motor Company Product Development Center (PDC) located in Wauwatosa, WI is home to the mantra - You dream it. We build it. Join our team as a Program Manager Service Engineering - Electrical Diagnostics.
The Service Engineering Program Manager reports to the Manager, Service Engineering and is a member of the Product Development Team (Engineering, Styling, Manufacturing, Materials Management, Service and Finance) that creates the next generation of Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. This role supports the H-D product development methodology in providing a Service point of view to new product development during all phases of product design, and is the “Voice of Service”, representing both customers and dealer staff with an objective to improve serviceability of new product designs, reduce service complexity, and reduce the overall cost of ownership as it relates to vehicle maintenance. This position is a recognized authority on motorcycle serviceability and is a key resource in addressing Service-related questions and concerns for other departments and Company stakeholders. The Program Manager, Service Engineering is required to exercise sound judgement and discretion in making independent decisions under limited supervision and may be utilized to coach employees of lesser responsibility.
*Represents Service in the requirements-setting process of motorcycle product development *Provides design recommendations and approvals for vehicle serviceability and cost of ownership on multiple product development projects and programs *Develops service procedures that are used by Dealer Technicians to setup, maintain, and repair customer motorcycles *Reviews drafts of Service communication as subject matter expert for service procedures and methodologies *Identifies diagnostic and special service tool requirements, and coordinates their design and delivery with suppliers *Develops service procedure flat rates to support the Warranty Job Time/Code process *Leads New Model Year Launch Teams responsible for preparing service support functions for retail release. This includes the acquisition of new model information and its distribution to appropriate stakeholders
Bachelor's Degree Preferred
*Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related degree preferred *Certification from an accredited motorcycle mechanic training institute is a plus
*Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of related experience *Valid motorcycle license *Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Advanced rider certification *Ability to apply an advanced level of riding skills to dynamically evaluate motorcycles *Motorcycle repair abilities as demonstrated through work history or accredited Technician Certification *Working knowledge/understanding of the relationships between individual components/system function and overall product performance *Ability to analyze data and identify creative solutions to technical problems *Advanced knowledge of Harley-Davidson motorcycles and accessories *Effective communication and interpersonal skills
