OverviewnSierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).n nThis position will be located at NASAu2019s Marshall Space Flight Center.n nEOE/Minority/Female/Disabled/VeterannResponsibilitiesnPerform routine assignments under close supervision from provided detail procedures. Assignments may be in support of any of the Test Facilities in the Test Area at Marshall Space Flight Center. Provide assistance to plan and organize work operations necessary to setup, operate and maintain mechanical systems used to test propulsion systems and other associated major components related to test operations. Provide assistance to higher level Engineering Technicians to fabricate, assemble, modify and test specialized mechanical systems and sub-systems used in propulsion test operations. Provide support in conducting various tests that may require minor modifications in test setup of systems that utilize potentially hazardous medium such as: cryogenics, high pressure gases, various propellants and oxidizers, and high-pressure hydraulics. The Engineering Technician II/III should be familiar with mechanical equipment and components such as tube flaring, valves, regulators, gauges, hydraulic pumps. At times will need to provide guidance to lower classified technicians. Pass and maintain all necessary company and customer certifications as required.n nCandidate must be capable of working with an assigned team at various MSFC Test Facilities.n nMust have the ability to follow specific work instructions and mechanical schematics.n nMust have the ability to understand the fundamentals of mechanical systems, specifically LOX cleanliness protocols, cryogenic and pressurization system requirements.nQualificationsnRequired Experience/Education: (i.e.: Knowledge, skills, abilities, software, etc.)n nEng. Tech. III u2013 Mechanical - associate degree in industrial technology plus one (1) to three (3) years of engineering technician experience is strongly desired. Related experience in maintaining and operating propulsion test facilities, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience for a total of two (2) to five (5) years.n nKnowledge in propulsion test operations at a NASA Test Facility is strongly desired.n nPreferred Experience: (i.e.: Knowledge, skills, abilities, software, etc.)n nn The understanding and utilization of hand tools for assembly work will be required.n Welding Experience as listed below is desired.n n TIG u2013 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) n Stick u2013 Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)n n Applicant must have the capability to read and understand blueprints.n Operational understanding of a Shear, Horizontal and Vertical Saws, and drill pressn Records data, when necessary, electronically and/or hard copy.n
