Collins Aerospace is looking for an Engineering Manager with a passion for engineering and the desire to lead teams responsible for designing and developing our next generation of industry-leading information management products.
The candidate will lead a team of front end and mobile developers and interact with product line management, program management and engineering leads across multiple levels and disciplines. The mission is to successfully develop, integrate, and maintain the software supporting the Collins ARINCDirect portfolio of products and services.
The primary responsibility of the candidate is to continuously improve the performance of the team through development of staff. This will include assigning resources to projects, setting and evaluating goals, coaching and management of compensation, recognition and awards.
The candidate will drive evolution of team processes, methods, skill-set, tools and technology; will understand and operate within budgets; and will develop and enact resource demand plans that are aligned with multiple product line manager road-maps.
The candidate will collaborate across divisions and the enterprise to identify efficiencies, share resources, and support the development of best practices, necessitating an ability to clearly communicate objectives, approach and status to audiences with varying degrees of understanding of the products and underlying technology. The candidate must demonstrate sound decision making skills, strategic thinking, networking skills, and the ability to accurately forecast labor.
The successful candidate will lead the engineering team using strong interpersonal, mentoring and negotiating skills. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for adhering to, and supporting Collins process methodologies.
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience is required.
Ability to build trust and confidence with customers, engineers, program management, and product line management to achieve program and business objectives
Demonstrate leadership by example, building trust and inspiring people through a shared vision where people feel valued, empowered, and fulfilled
Posses 7 years of experience in software engineering
Experience in development of web applications
Ability to travel up to 20%
Experience with proposal effort coordination, including estimating, bidding, narrative writing, risk identification, and technical leadership
Experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
