Role
This role works directly in support of critical business functions and objectives, typically in the context of Enterprise Projects (as sponsor or participant) or internal department initiatives. The person selected must be able to work independently while supervising the work of security engineers, senior security engineers, and security architects.
The position will support multiple project teams spanning business functions (i.e. - finance, HR, business development) and help those teams ensure compliance with Security, Enterprise Technology Services and Enterprise Architecture (EA) standards and guidelines. This role requires the creation of a materiality based culture, in which potential vulnerabilities are scored against susceptibility, exploitability, and potential impact. The focus is vulnerability centric, and all vulnerabilities mapped to business terms.
Responsibilities
* The selected applicant will be responsible for leading a core team that provides security analysis, design, and engineering support on an enterprise level
* Analyzing new product/vendor solutions, designing and engineering solutions into production; developing and refining Standard Security Operating Procedures as they relate to best security practices and potential materiality
* Will work with a wide array of personnel from Architectural, Engineering, and Operational staff to maintain and enhance network and systems security internally and at all points
* Provide direct support to assigned programs, projects, initiatives, and Service support staff on a daily basis
* Oversee security analysis and design documents for specific projects and operational security assessments based on business process and design artifacts provided by project, program or service support staff
* Provide security input to Root Cause Analyses (RCA) for system and/or process related outages or incidents, as well as materiality based risk concentration analysis of residual risk
* Create security architecture diagrams and related documents as required
* Interaction will involve both formal and informal exchange and presentation of factual information and critical analysis of information based on materiality
* Other duties as assigned
Requirements
* 4 year degree (Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Business Administration or a related field)
* Minimum of 8 years of enterprise engineering experience in a security context
* Experience with Security Engineering in a regulatory environment with compliance and audit responsibilities
* Minimum 5 years' experience managing technical teams of 10 people
* Thorough knowledge of Windows Servers, UNIX, and Linux servers and network devices, in a highly-available production environment
* Strong knowledge of protocol design, network topologies, and security methodology is required
* Must be able to communicate technical concepts clearly to a broad range of personnel, including program management, engineering/technical management, security management, and operations staff
* Must be able to direct small teams effectively, work well in a team environment and develop assigned products independently or in collaboration with other technical and functional subject matter experts
* Understands when to escalate and can influence without direct authority
* Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing an information security strategy in a large, complex environment with successful outcomes
* Experience and thorough familiarity with highly available systems, and supporting applications in a change-control environment
* Knowledge of information security principles, procedures, and regulatory compliance principles
* Strong analytical, writing and exceptional communication skills
* Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
* Ability to routinely multi-task between the tactical and the strategic
* Experienced in facilitating Information Security risk assessments for major processes, systems and projects
* Strong leadership skills to oversee multiple facilities, operations and staff
* Strong human relations skills to select, develop, mentor, discipline and reward employees
* Knowledge of confidentiality of information, privacy protection, data security and other information security issues important in a client focused company
