Principal Tech Program Manager - Maps and Location Services Location: US-WA-Seattle Job ID: 598437 Company: : Amazon.com Services, Inc. Position Category: Project/Program/Product Management--Technical Company/Location (search) : Country (Full Name): : United States Job Description Does working with large scale systems that process millions of transactions excite you? Do you want to innovate and optimize the way packages get delivered to the customers? Are you equally comfortable digging in to business requirements as you are drilling into architecture and design with development teams? If you answered yes, we have an opportunity for you! The Access Points team is currently comprised of 4 product lines: Lockers, Hub By Amazon, Campus, and Pickup Points. Together, they form a network of 150K automated or attended locations, primarily in North America, Europe, China and Japan, where Amazon customers can pick up and return Amazon, and soon non-Amazon, packages. In addition to retail customers, we also work closely with and build experiences for space partners who host or attend our products as well as the carriers/drivers who serve those locations. We build the solutions that provide a best in class pick-up and drop-off customer experience across the globe through the use of convenient, reliable, and secure Lockers and third party pickup points. Amazon Lockers are self-service kiosks placed in shopping centers, retail stores, transit stations, and other access points in areas with high customer density. To pick-up orders or drop-off returns, customers select a location on the website; receive a code, and collect or drop-off the package at their convenience. Our challenges include building geographical proximity solutions for customers to discover these locations, developing smart algorithms for real-time capacity management of Lockers and pick-up points, developing and securing data and software running on Locker hardware, third-party devices and mobile apps and implementing low-latency, high throughput services that interact with customers and mail carriers on a global scale. The Access Points team is looking for an experienced Principal Technical Program Manager with a passion for innovation and building global, large scale distributed systems which will service hundreds of thousands of pick-up locations worldwide and manage workflow for millions of packages. The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects across multiple teams, and will want to have a lasting impact in the back-end technology space. You have a strong sense of building the right thing for your customers. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.
