The Access Points team is currently comprised of 4 product lines: Lockers, Hub By Amazon, Campus, and Pickup Points. Together, they form a network of 150K automated or attended locations, primarily in North America, Europe, China and Japan, where Amazon customers can pick up and return Amazon, and soon non-Amazon, packages. In addition to retail customers, we also work closely with and build experiences for space partners who host or attend our products as well as the carriers/drivers who serve those locations. We build the solutions that provide a best in class pick-up and drop-off customer experience across the globe through the use of convenient, reliable, and secure Lockers and third party pickup points. Amazon Lockers are self-service kiosks placed in shopping centers, retail stores, transit stations, and other access points in areas with high customer density. To pick-up orders or drop-off returns, customers select a location on the website; receive a code, and collect or drop-off the package at their convenience. Our challenges include building geographical proximity solutions for customers to discover these locations, developing smart algorithms for real-time capacity management of Lockers and pick-up points, developing and securing data and software running on Locker hardware, third-party devices and mobile apps and implementing low-latency, high throughput services that interact with customers and mail carriers on a global scale. The Access Points team is looking for an experienced Principal Technical Program Manager with a passion for innovation and building global, large scale distributed systems which will service hundreds of thousands of pick-up locations worldwide and manage workflow for millions of packages. The right candidate will possess a strong technical program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects across multiple teams, and will want to have a lasting impact in the back-end technology space. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. You are comfortable talking to any Senior Leader, from Director to VP to SVP. You have excellent communication skills both verbal and written and you're used to making hard-tradeoff decisions. You have a strong sense of building the right thing for your customers. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related field 8 years of Technical Program Management experience in a related industry, including hands-on management of large, cross-functional software efforts 5 years of hands-on engineering experience Hands-on experience with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Preferred Qualifications Master's Degree in Computer Science/Math or related field Experience leading and/or managing efforts in a distributed systems environment Hands-on experience with Microservices Proven experience simplifying business processes into automat
