This role will design, build and automate run environments for high performance compute clusters in cloud. Scope includes engineering solutions for Clinical Pharmacology, Small Molecule discovery and Translational sciences. Role will work closely with business partners & scientists in multiple R&D business units. This is a role with high level skills in Linux, distributed computing, hybrid cloud services and Python. The role will interact with scientists on a frequent basis and support workflows in Labs. The role will implement Cloud based services for high performance computing and large data sets. The role will work on regulated environments used for clinical models and submission process.

Requirements & Responsibilities:

Design and implement high performance compute clusters for clinical pharmacology.

Support business partners in developing proposals, building and running business portfolio applications.

Work with the scientists in small molecule discovery and design systems to address scientific workflows.

Understand scientific workflows, and integrate external solutions, SaaS environments and legacy applications.

Evaluate emerging high performance computing technologies and work closely with vendors to design next generation compute platform.

Support machine learning algorithms & techniques and apply to scientific processes.

Architect large-scale AWS projects and integrate R&D lab environments that comply with AWS, BMS standards and regulatory requirements. Conform to best practices of server-less architecture and burst computing best practices.

Integrate SaaS platforms with BMS cloud environment on AWS.

Configure burst computing environments and data flows for very large data sets on AWS cloud.

Manage technical aspects of collaborations industry wide and academic research institutes.

Research advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning, do literature research and present at internal forums.

Optimize costs, provide budget estimations and run costs reports.

Manage security compliance for cloud environments for R&D.

Adopt new AWS services. Innovate new digital capabilities using machine learning, Internet of Things and data analysis frameworks.

Skills required:

Deep knowledge of Linux, Python, cluster computing, distributed computing and hybrid cloud technologies. Preference for NavOps.

Deep knowledge of Linux, SQL database and scheduler systems. Preference for Univa software.

Knowledge of configuration management tools. Chef or Ansible is preferred.

Knowledge of monitoring tools. Nagios or Splunk preferred.

Cloud security and data governance.

AWS cloud services for parallel and burst computing.

Knowledge of scientific workflows for computer aid drug design, lab environments for biological systems and GPU based systems.

Agile methodologies and project management skills.

Presentation skills for large audiences and technology evangelism.

Architecture skills of complex scientific systems and workflows.

Software programming skills for machine learning frameworks.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or applied mathematics.

10 years minimum experience in technologies supporting medicinal chemistry or biological sciences.

Familiarity with Agile methodology and project management skills

Communication skills and familiarity with scientific terminologies.

Experience in Pharmaceuticals and/or Healthcare IT preferred.

Experience with IT asset management and compliance using enterprise CMDBs and change control

Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Collaboratively interact with leadership and multiple stakeholders across the IT organization.
