The Materials Management Director is responsible for directing and managing all material movement and material flow globally, including production & supplier planning, forecasting, receiving, shipping, warehousing, inventory control, and inventory accuracy for the Mechanical Segment including plastics, faceplates, metal, softparts and motor structures categories. The successful candidate will maintain inventory accuracy and end-to-end processes related to warehouse management, inventory handling, inventory control and accuracy, storage, receiving, shipping, and the continuous improvement of these processes.

*Develop and Implement robust Critical Parts Management that will significantly reduce HARMAN supply risk *Develop and implement Inventory Policies for RAW, WIP and Finished Goods that takes HARMAN to the best in class Companies *Develop and Implement robust Master Data Management processes and procedures that significantly reducing risk from HARMAN *Accountable for the global development of demand and supply chain decision modeling for the segment; identifying opportunities to optimize total cost of ownership, including critical parts, inventories, and capacities *Provide “what if” business case analysis scenarios for executive decision support *Contribute to the improvement of the SIOP process *Globally plan, organize, direct, and monitor decision execution instructions at the implementation level, as well as clearly present decision models and summary reporting to executives and leaders *Globally control SAP master data setups across the supply chain *Audit and correct SAP master data settings, including inventory and planning *Responsible for the accuracy of master data in the weekly SIOP process *Leads development, tracking, and reporting of global supply chain performance. Including supplier communications, supplier corrective action support, and supplier site audits *Accountable to set raw and WIP inventory strategies for the supply chain organization *Responsible for the reporting of inventory performance *Leads all plants in regards inventory analysis and reporting including days on hand, inventory turns, and dead/slow moving. Reporting findings and initiate corrective actions. *Responsible for developing inventory forecasts, and contributing to the budgeting process *Responsible for auditing inventory settings in SAP *Owner of the global critical parts management, including identification, supplier allocations, and reporting *Critical Parts escalation to Harman leadership *Customer communication lead for critical part situations. *Lead interface to the procurement team for the SIOP team *Identify global continuous improvement activities to enhance supply chain effectiveness and cost reduction, including critical part management, inventory control, freight optimization, and others
*Collaborate with Corporate, Group and cross-functional personnel, both domestic and global, to ensure alignment of key strategic objectives *Advise senior level management on comprehensive business and market intelligence data including strategic opportunities and value-added solutions related to transportation, warehousing, service, supply chain trends, etc. *Effectively communicate the team’s progress and value to key stakeholders *Prepare annual department budgets, and establish controls to maintain objectives
*Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in related field or equivalent experience, Supply Chain Management or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred *Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in the area of supply chain and/or materials management with a minimum of 3 years experience with supervisory responsibility *Supplier & Production planning experience *Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment *Experience utilizing financial and data-driven techniques to make decisions; proven experience negotiating with freight and logistics providers *Knowledge and participation in LEAN activities, including participation in Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and other continuous improvement activities *Experience in interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; counseling; rewarding and disciplining employees
*Experience in handling Mechanical Categories/Commodities (plastics, faceplates, metal, softparts and motor structures)
*Mechanical Engineering, BSc or MSc
