We’re adding a new Project Manager to join our Capital Projects team who will help to support our investments and growth plans. This position will report to the Capital Planning & Engineering Manager, Integrated Supply Chain (ISC), Specialty Catalyst (SC) line of business. The position is based in Columbia, MD, however consideration will be given to candidates currently located in the Gulf region. Travel is expected to be 20-30%, however it may reach up to 50% domestic travel. Responsibilities include:
Manage capital projects for any of the Grace businesses at any of the Grace sites which typically are industrial manufacturing in nature.
Manage projects consistent with the Grace Project Methodology (GPM) stage-gate workflow.
Coordinate with the Project Leader to identify and secure the resources necessary to meet the project objectives.
Manage project scope, cost, schedule and quality to meet stakeholder expectations.
Gain Steering Team endorsement for all key project deliverables.
Accurately forecast capital spending
Ensure the project meets safety and quality standards in both design and execution.
Ensure the project is designed and installed in accordance with relevant Grace, industry and national codes and standards.
Coordinate and manage change to the project scope or execution plan.
Coordinate with the Procurement organization to optimize purchasing events.
Communicate project status, issues and risks to all stakeholders, including the executive leadership team.
Lead the review and evaluation of project management documents, specifications, design deliverables, equipment procurement and contracted services.
Ensure project deliverables and documents are retained, organized and delivered to the owners after the project has concluded.
Support development and implementation of the GPM workflow throughout the corporation
Model and support GPM behavior
Support Capital Planning and capital optimization efforts
Must have strong communication and inter-personal skills necessary to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external customers/suppliers/vendors
Able to be onsite during phases of the assigned project(s) and includes the ability to travel appoximately 20-30%, up to 50%
B.S. Degree in an Engineering discipline.
3-5 years’ experience in project engineering and project management in the chemical manufacturing and/or petrochemical industry.
Demonstrated proficiency managing capital projects in a mature stage gate process environment.
Experience working on projects valued at $2-10M
Acting as an owners’ representative within a chemical manufacturing environment
Demonstrated ability to execute all phases of capital project management (FEL 1 - 4, front end design, project funding authorization, detail design, construction, commissioning, start-up, and close out)
Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously at different stages
