Job Summary

This role will be responsible for managing the complete life cycle of internal projects, including approval, planning, execution and closeout to ensure planned results are achieved on time. Further responsible for driving process and tooling to increase visibility into product and engineering planning and delivery, which will in turn help the teams be more efficient and predictable. We need to be able to better answer questions like “are we building what we set out to build in the time that we planned?”, “are our engineering resources allocated to our most important strategic initiatives?”, “how can we improve collaboration between product and engineering?” and “how have the answers to these questions changed over time and what can we learn from that?”. The right candidate will be extremely detail-oriented, but will also know how to work with teams to understand the people as well as the data. They will also be an excellent communicator, and be able to bridge the gap between product & engineering teams and those in more client-facing roles. Coordinates the activities of a cross-functional team including exempt and non-exempt employees. Defines project objectives and ensures progress to plan, as well as tracks critical project achievements.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Provides expert research and assistance to leadership in the development and design of new projects

Uses formal processes and tools to manage resources, budgets, risks and changes. Recommends new process and tools to achieve advanced project management

Manages project status and information in the form of formal briefings, project update meetings and written, electronic and graphic reports

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

Addresses problems through risk management and contingency planning and presents solutions and/or options to management. Ensures effective implementation of solutions/changes

Leverages Jira toThe Technical Project Manager performs a wide range of duties including some or all of the following::

Facilitate the product and engineering teams’ planning and execution

Understand how we’ve performed in the past, where we can improve

See how work rolls up to strategic initiatives

Understand where our engineering resources are allocated

Tell the story of planned and completed work to those outside of Product and Engineering orgs in the form of roadmaps and other artifacts without having to create them manually

Identifies and implements process and tooling improvements that:

Make things easier and smoother for engineers and product managers

Improve visibility from outside of product and engineering orgs

Improve visibility from inside product and engineering orgs to what is going on in the business around them

All of the above while protecting product and engineering from undue interruption

Works with product-adjacent teams (systems engineers, support teams, commercial and revenue teams etc.) to identify and implement proper comms and collaboration approaches and systems

Leads communications with the broader organization around product and engineering roadmap

Experience / Skills

Jira expert; strong experience with Jira both for managing SDLC processes and for extracting meaningful and actionable intelligence.

Excel expert; expertise in extracting, summarizing, and visualizing datasets and using them to bring understanding and clarity to real business questions

Experience using business intelligence tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI, etc.) is a plus

SQL expertise is a plus

7 years of experience in a job in the Media or Advertising industry with a specific focus on SDLC project management and/or engineering operations

Experience explaining complex business concepts to engineers, and explaining technically complex product roadmaps to business leaders

Excellent verbal and written communications skills

Creativity/Innovation: Develop new and unique ways to improve operations of the organization and to create new opportunities

Foster Teamwork: Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problem, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness

Lead: Positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the organization

Make Decisions: Assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization

Organize: Set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities

Solve Problems: Assess problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions, and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem

Experience: General understanding of application methodologies, database and system design including managing all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Minimum qualifications and requirements

Generally requires 5 years related experience

Bachelor's degree in Business or Technology related field

PMP Certification a plus

Corporate PMO experience a plus

Agile certifications a plus
