Description: The Sikorsky System Engineering Department is seeking candidates for System Engineering coop/intern assignments for the Fall Semester 2019. The preferred length of this co-op assignment is for one full year (covering two full semesters). Assignments will be at Sikorsky facilities in the Connecticut.
Assignments will be in a cross-functional team environment encompassing a full range of product/project system engineering activities including working with design, development, testing and support of helicopter product line. Candidates must display an ability to think logically, communicate a clear understanding of their subject matter and offer informed suggestions to improve processes; respect individual differences and utilize the diverse thinking and contributions of all team members/employees.
The system engineering candidate will assist the system engineering project team in following areas:
- Development and management of system design requirements
- Establishment and maintenance of relational databases
- Development, statusing and closure of risks mitigation plans
- Collection and reporting of metrics
- Assignment and statusing of action items
- Assessment of impact of requirements or design change impacts
- Support of presentations
Pursuing a Bachelors or Master's degree and should be completed 3 semesters of study in any of the following majors: Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering, System Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Engineering Science, Materials Science or Computer Science from an accredited college.
Minimum GPA 3.0
A working knowledge of PC's and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project) applications is strongly desired. Strong communication and organizational skills are required to work effectively in the System Engineering department. Proficiency in DOORS requirements management application is a plus. Proficiency in MS access is a plus. Advanced proficiency in Excel is a plus. Ability to read and interpret written and verbally communicated requirements is required. The candidate must possess the ability to work independently from communicated requirements.
