What's the role -

The Cathedral Portfolio spans across multiple lines of businesses and encompasses projects at Norco, Convent, Geismar & Deer Park Sites in Louisiana and Texas, USA. In aggregate, the portfolio’s TIC is expected to be a multi-billion dollars investment.

The role of Sr. Process Engineer is accountable to provide technical assurance and oversight for the one or several member projects of the Cathedral portfolio in the process engineering scope. This includes technical assurance of projects in multiple phases of the Opportunity Realization Process. The candidate must be able to provide steer and guidance to the portfolio of projects in the process scope and requires interfacing with staff both in the business and within P&T, across multiple team members. The candidate must communicate with technical staff from Owner’s team, comprising of technical authorities, Principal experts, or subject matter experts, and Engineering Contractors to shape the process technical requirements that will deliver competitive scoping, and efficient execution.

The candidate is expected to perform or support scouting studies, conceptual design, Basic Design and Engineering Packages of Process engineering across at least three-line businesses (Low Carbon Fuels, Chemicals, Carbon Capture and Storage). Will play a pivotal role on finding the appropriate cost and benefits for the purpose of assurance of process engineering solutions, to drive credible and competitive scope toward making the opportunity affordable.

Assure compliance with regulatory requirements and applicable industry and company codes, standards, and recommended practices. Capable to build a shared vision and deliver through self and others the required scope definition.

The core purpose of the position is to support the Process Engineering development from Assess to Start-up of the portfolio member projects in support of the Process Integrator Lead and/or Engineering Manager and Asset teams. As the portfolio matures, this role might take the responsibility for leading the Process design of individual member projects across one of the business lines mentioned above and might indirectly interface and manage several members of EPC contractors.

Accountabilities:


HSSE leadership, role model commitment to Life Saving Rules, Goal Zero and Golden Rules
Delivery of portfolio process solutions, and their quality and technical assurance reviews.
Provide technical support for the design of different process units and systems across member projects.
Participate in the review of sites’ existing process units and integrity, asses the gaps and provide recommendation for improvement, or replacement.
Delivery and assurance, or oversight thereof, for the process engineering deliverables across various EP partners per the controls identified in the projects PCAP / DDP and the selected projects standards / specifications. This includes assurance that the engineering deliverables are done correctly and technical sign-off of changes.
Coordination and resolution of process engineering issues within the assigned member projects, including alignment on project design standards and discussions on risk / deviations / derogations and management of process engineering interfaces.
Interface management across all project phases with engineering contractors / design firms, as it pertains to Process deliverables (both vendors / EP partners).
Support the Process Integrator Lead and/or Engineering manager in early phases with development of engineering philosophies and strategies that help setup the projects for Success.
Work with project engineering and the other engineering disciplines to Identify, utilize and maximize replication & standardization of process equipment/units/systems that could facilitate efficiency throughout the assigned member projects.
Incorporation of process engineering project learnings from Shell and industry projects.
Support driving the organisational vision, purpose and value by being part of a strong team with EPC partners in clear alignment around desired project objectives and behaviours.
Development of or oversight to EPC’s development of Process input for Feasibility reports, Basis for Design, BDEP, HAZOPs, Model reviews, etc.
Driving innovation idea generation for competitive solutions.
Maintaining continues process team engagement with the Shell P&T specialists (Process CoE) to keep them informed as to the major unit/systems issues and progress in resolving.


Dimensions:


Reporting to the Process Integrator Lead this role has accountabilities for the process specific activities and deliverables across the assigned member projects within the portfolio. As the portfolio progresses, the functional reporting relationships might be re-organized in response to the portfolio size, maturity, and complexity. To ensure continuity, during construction and CSU phases of the projects, it is expected that this role might transition to become an integral part of the Asset expansion teams at the Convent/Geismar sites in Louisiana.
The candidate should be able to liaise with and influence stakeholders at different levels in the organization. Individuals are given freedom, responsibility, and support in their work as appropriate, and there will be opportunities to contribute to the shaping the future of the LCF, Chemicals and CCS businesses.


What we need from you -


A legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
BEng. Degree in Chemical/Process Engineering, (or equivalent) and experience in all phases of project development and delivery.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in the development and delivery of Project Process design, process modelling & cost estimation, technology, safety facilities engineering within a brownfield and greenfield environment, ideally within chemical, refinery or petrochemicals environments.
Understanding of the United States codes and requirements within the Process systems.
Proven track record of interfacing between engineering, technology and refining/chemicals operations for technology deployment.
Track record using static and dynamic simulation methods to optimize and validate the process design.
Experience in project development for energy/GHG reduction, production of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAFs) and/or waste to fuels and chemicals technologies is a plus.
Track record of effective communication and building effective partnerships with partners, suppliers at all levels of the organization.
Experience of management of Shell and third-party licensors technology and the successful integration of it within a complex project / facility.
Experience in working with diverse stakeholders to drive and influence cost-benefit outcomes.


Knowledge and Skills


Strong safety Leader
Sound technical understanding of process technology, process operations, maintenance, and performance improvements.
Experience in Process Safety in Design is a must.
Past Exposure to Low Carbon Fuels, Chemicals, CCS and/or H2 business lines is highly valued.
Strong interpersonal skills and be able to work well with people at all levels of the organization internally and externally.


This role can be based in either Houston or Louisiana area.
