Hanging wallpaper is both a science and a craft. Preparing the walls is as important as, or perhaps more important than, the process of hanging the paper.

The success of the wallcovering project will depend on the condition of the wall surface before you begin.
Prepare the walls by filling cracks and holes with surface compound. Once they are filled in, then sand smooth. Spot-prime the patches.
Once your walls have been repaired, clean the wall with TSP solution, then rinse with clean water.
Seal, prime and size walls. Sizings are compounds that act like sealers, which allow walls to dry uniformly. They also provide extra adhesion.
