Security firm Abraxas merges operations with defense tech firm Intrinsix
Virginia-based risk mitigation technology company, Abraxas Corporation, purchased Maryland-based Intrinsix Federal Systems (IFS), a division of Intrinsix Corp., of Westboro, Massachusetts. A specialist in designing application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), IFS supports design and testing of computer chips for various Department of Defense microelectronics projects. It also supports the Trusted Access Program, which provides onshore silicon fabrication for important defense applications. For the past 10 years, IFS has been well known for its services to ''seasoned veterans'' and has supported several Department of Defense projects, both on site and at their own facilities. Abraxas Corporation's engineering talent pool will be enhanced with the acquisition of IFS' integrated circuits experience. Abraxas has established an electrical engineering services division, known as Abraxas Engineering, which will work on a variety of innovative mission critical tasks. Veteran Intrinsix employee, John Weiland, will lead the division as the new Director.
