Tampa-based engineering consulting firm, King Engineering, has acquired Austin-based Googins and Associates, LLC, a civil engineering firm. Tom O'Connor, executive vice president of King Engineering, is very excited at the development and plans to expand business in the area with the addition of other services, including municipal services. Founder and President Aaron Googins of Googins and Associates will join the new setup as vice president for the Texas market. King Engineering's team will now have 287 employees after the merger with the seven-member Austin firm. One of the largest full-service consulting engineering firms in the Tampa Bay area, its provides civil and environmental engineering services along with surveying and mapping, transportation engineering, planning and other services to public and private sector clients.
Daniel Jelski, new science/engineering dean at SUNY New Paltz
Daniel A. Jelski will take responsibility as dean of the State University of New York at New Paltz's (SUNY) School of Science and Engineering, effective Aug. 1. A former department head at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Jelski served as an associate professor of chemistry at SUNY Fredonia. He was also awarded the Fulbright Scholar award for research and teaching while in Fredonia from 1988 to 2000. Jelski received his doctorate in chemistry from Northern Illinois University in 1985. At SUNY Buffalo he served as research associate in the Department of Physics and Astronomy after his doctorate.
Brady, new director at Bell Microproducts
Jim Brady, with more than two decades of exceptional storage-centric, solutions engineering experience, has joined Bell Microproducts Inc., as director of engineering for North America. Brady will look after Bell's system, manufacturing, and test engineering in its integration facilities and will be located in the company's San Jose integration facility. Bell is one of the world's largest distributors of storage and computing technology. The firm hopes to leverage on Brady's vast experience in the field to increase its capabilities in New Product Introduction (NPI), front-end engineering services, and quality engineering. Brady previously served as senior director of corporate quality at Xiotech Corporation in the Minneapolis area. Bob Sturgeon, vice president, operations and CIO of Bell Microproducts, said that hiring Brady was part of the firm's move to showcase its commitment to delivering clients the best of its services.
