Job Description
The company is, without dispute, one of the highest performing mobile applications and mobile traffic optimization developers in the industry. They are seeking a phenomenally talented hands-on technical leader to serve as their Director of Engineering to drive the overall architecture of all of software development and manage a multi-geographic team of approximately 25 engineers.

We are seeking an experienced engineering director – a proven leader who can step in and provide technical leadership and direction for a dynamic engineering team, deliver timely solutions to the market, and execute the challenging development activities on a comprehensive product portfolio roadmap. S/he should have the ability to bridge technology with business acumen and will bring experience in developing mobile software and mobile traffic optimization products.
S/he will assist in developing and sustaining a culture of innovation and technical excellence that will make our firm the place to be for anyone interested in developing leading-edge, next-generation mobile software and traffic optimization solutions.
The Director of Engineering’s responsibilities includes but is not limited to:
• Managing a worldwide development team of ~ 20-30 engineers
• Providing strong leadership & mentorship to individual contributors and leaders within engineering
• Driving planning, execution, and overall success of server platform software.
• Utilizing technical, project management, and team management experience to actively lead the development engineering teams in local and remote development locations
• Being an integral part of the engineering leadership team to focus on broader organizational topics like process, cultural improvements & people development
• Establishing a strong software development discipline for ensuring successful, on time and high quality releases
• Establishing and utilizing strong relationships with field and account teams and providing level 1 support to field deployments as well as act as an interface to the rest of the engineering organization
• Successfully managing multiple release schedules and properly balance the work streams between the regular cadences required with Service Packs & day-to-day hot fix and data fix demands
• Closely aligning the engineering priorities with the tactical & strategic plans within Engineering, Customer Support & the Customer Management Organization

Job Requirements / Qualifications
The Director of Engineering should possess both start-up and large company experience.
The qualifications should include:
• Minimum BS CS/CE or equivalent with 8 years of relevant work experience; MS or PhD is a plus
• Ability of driving the technical architecture and MUST have recently been contributing to code.
• Recent experience in developing routers, firewalls, video optimization, proxies, network operating systems, network management software, Diameter or Radius servers, or similar networking or mobile infrastructure technologies.
• Deep understanding and hands-on development experience with Internet protocols (e.g. HTTP, SSL/TLS, DNS, TCP/IP) is essential
• Strong technical skills with a background in developing & managing teams involved in architecting, building and maintaining infrastructure software
• Coding skills and experience with C/C and/or Java and related frameworks and object-oriented programming techniques
• Experience with Agile/Lean/XP methodologies applied to multi-tiered product development
• Knowledge and working experience with HTTP Caching/Proxies and Web traffic acceleration techniques and technologies a plus
