Our client is seeking a candidate for a full time direct hire Network Engineer position in Jacksonville, FL.
Position Summary:
The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting LAN and WAN solutions for clients network. This position analyzes technology requirements to plan circuit-wide network that will provide sufficient capabilities required for projected workloads in addition to planning the layout and installation of new systems or modification of existing systems under the direction of the Operations Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
LAN/WAN Administration:
Be responsible for architecture of overall network design, implementation maintenance including switches, routers, firewalls, wireless, etc
Provide documentation and conduct testing as necessary
Create and maintain Network Standards and Procedures and maintain accurate records and history
Monitor the network performance and utilization metrics
Provide monthly reporting of performance monitoring
Evaluation and purchase of circuit-wide networking equipment
Network Security:
Accountable for network security, ensuring that security and performance monitoring is completed at appropriate intervals; take effective action as needed
Maintain firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention, security appliances and security-related software packages
Remain current on emerging tools, techniques, methodologies and technologies
Produce high-quality written products documenting findings, conclusions, and recommendations
Record all information relating to work completed utilizing ITIL best practices
Network Continuity Planning:
Accountable for network continuity planning, testing, and recovery
Respond timely to data center and network outage events and ensure prompt return to service
Job Specifications:
Experience in deployment strategies for new technologies within a geographically diverse corporate environment
Must be detail oriented, task driven, and have excellent communication skills. Customer service focus is key
Passionate about technology and solving IT pperations-focused problems
Ability to work effectively with staff, peers, and others in and outside the organization to accomplish goals, objectives and to identify and resolve problems
Strong documentation and training skills
Strong configuration and design skills which are essential to this position
Adept at implementing technology-enabled business solutions for clients as part of a high-talent team focused over-delivering customers' needs
Experience in a non-profit setting and an understanding of fund raising fundamentals preferred
Detail oriented and organized with an ability to meet deadlines
Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise confidentiality and good judgment when working with sensitive issues
Display an unequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct
Display an ownership attitude where individual can take on initiatives and drive to completion.
Requirements:
Assist in the operations and maintenance of enterprise data network components to sustain and support operational, mission critical, clinical and business systems;
Provide second tier technical support for network infrastructure problem resolution;
Provide technical guidance and mentoring for other Information Technology teams;
Adhere to our client’s and WWP organization policies and standards;
Be available 24X7 for the resolution of network problems that affect the ability to provide business continuity.
Be available for rotation assignment for on-call support duties;
Be available for work shift hours that include weekends and off-hours as part of regular work shift;
Adhere and abide to our client’s confidentiality agreements, policies and procedures;
Response to all emergency “after hour” phone calls and pages within 30 minutes of being contacted;
Experience working in non-profit organizations is highly preferred;
Experience working with service providers/IT vendors is desirable;
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or equivalent work experience preferred, supplemented with three (3) years verifiable hands on experiences with commonly implemented routing and switching protocols;
Three years verifiable hands on experience with large enterprise, critical network configuration, and troubleshooting;
Certifications preferred (CCNP or CCDP in routing and switching), supplemented with at least three (3) years verifiable hands on experience in large scale implementation.
Three years hands on operational experience with Cisco Router, Catalyst and Nexus network equipment. Experience with other network technologies, such a VPN and Network Security (firewall / IDS) technologies;
Three years (3) hands on experience with IP, TCPIP, OSPF, EIGRP, and ATM protocol support;
Two years (2) hands on experience with installation, configuration, and supporting of IEEE 802.11 Wireless network technologies (Cisco and Aruba)
