The quality engineer plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. He or she develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in engineering fields such as chemical, electrical, or mechanical. The quality engineer devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data. The quality engineer also establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment. The production equipment includes testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities. He or she develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of faulty material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility. The quality engineer directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
The quality engineer job candidate should at least be a graduate in mechanical, chemical, or electrical engineering. He should ample experience of more than 5 years to switch his or her role in quality control.
