Finding Engineering Jobs
Engineering careers have been around for a long time, and they show no signs of going away. Since ancient times engineers have been around in one form or another, and they still exist today. They build our bridges, and they help to erect tall buildings. They keep our electrical systems up and running; and even manage to write some of the software programs that we use today and every day. Jobs in engineering are very lucrative, and it's a great idea to get involved in one of the many engineer careers out there. The big question of course, is where ARE the jobs?
In an economy that is running away like the road runner, it's important to know exactly where all of the jobs are. Sure there is always going to be a call for engineers in the United States, but the question is where?
The first place you might look is in California, Arizona, and even Washington DC. This is where you will find the engineer careers in aerospace. Naturally these are extremely high profile jobs in engineering and they will demand that you have the highest levels of education. Do you have what it takes? That remains to be seen, but if the hundred thousand dollar per year paycheck is worth it to you, then you'll definitely give it a shot!
The energy sector is also growing. Energy can refer to oil, chemicals, natural gas, bio-diesel, and just about anything else that you can imagine. If you are interested in pursuing one of the many careers like this, then you should definitely look in the west. States like Texas, California, and Louisiana are huge producers of energy, and as such hire the most energy workers in the United States. There is also a huge calling for renewable energy sources, so if that's something you are interested in, then the energy sector is definitely for you.
In the Northwest you can often find Electrical, Manufacturing engineer jobs, and even civil engineering. These are all very important jobs, especially civil engineering. You've probably heard that a lot of the bridges in the country are beginning to break down and decay. This means that someone is going to need to repair them or come up with an entirely new design. Is that person you? If you want to get into a civil engineering job or manufacturing engineer jobs, the time is now.
Once again there are more jobs in California as the Health and Safety Engineers make their need ever known. There is also a call for environmental engineers who help out with.....well! You guessed it, environmental problems! There isn't much that engineers don't do these days, even if most of the jobs are located on the west coast.
As you can see, you have absolutely nothing to lose by pursuing a career in engineering! Though the economy is declining, more and more people are discovering that the high profile careers are the way to go. The thing about engineering is that not many people can do it. It takes a truly determined individual to actually shift through the courses and find their way in an ever complicated profession. If you follow this path, then you will always have a job.
