BEBR grants $75,000 to Gestra Engineering
The Wisconsin-sponsored Blight Elimination and Brownfield Redevelopment (BEBR) program will provide a $75,000 grant to Gestra Engineering, Inc., of Milwaukee. The grant will help Gestra Engineering redevelop an existing building for new offices. The Department of Commerce's BEBR program funds the evaluation and improvement of contaminated land in order to make it available for productive use. Gestra Engineering, which is relocating its offices from Oak Creek to Milwaukee, will have to eliminate polluted soil, which will cost around $345,000. The company, which provides geotechnical, structural, pavement, and construction materials for engineering services, will create eight jobs for the new project. Brownfields are fallow wastelands or underused industrial or commercial properties where improvement or renovation is prevented by real or apparent contamination.
