TurboCAD® Deluxe V14 released
Engineering design -solutions company ISMI/Design announced its release of TurboCAD® Deluxe Version 14, the first home-professional CAD software that supports CAD features formerly accessible only through professional CAD software. Bob Mayer, COO of ISMI/Design, stated that this version of TurboCAD® offers ease of use, affordability, and performance comparable to that of professional releases. TurboCAD® Deluxe V14 is comprised of a variety of features, including a photorealistic engine, a photorealistic-visualizations materials editor, advanced architectural features, geometric alignment aids, a selection information palette, training and documentation software, and compatibility with a variety of software programs, such as Google SketchUp®, AutoCAD® 2008, and Microsoft Vista®.
Texas Instruments' DSL unit purchased by Infineon Technologies AG
German chip manufacturer Infineon Technologies AG has acquired Texas Instruments' (TI's) DSL (digital subscriber line) customer premises equipment (CPE) business for an unspecified sum. Texas Instruments is a well-recognized provider of DSL products and a leading manufacturer of mobile-phone chips worldwide. Infineon Technologies looks forward to presenting a combination of TI's CPE products to expand its broadband product portfolio.
Trolltech partners with Praxis Engineering
Praxis Engineering, a technology leader in software and systems engineering, has announced its reseller partnership with Trolltech. The partnership will provide Praxis with sales support and the use of Qt, a cross-platform software development framework. Praxis will provide an entire range of Qt-focused solutions to its customers, including the entire Qt product line, training, and other value-added services. This partnership will allow Praxis to provide a wider range of improved software and services to its clients. Trolltech also offers Qtopia, an application platform for customizable, user-friendly Linux-based devices.
Johns Hopkins University now offers nanotechnology engineering program
The Institute for NanoBioTechnology (INBT) at Johns Hopkins University has introduced a nanotechnology option within its Master of Material Science and Engineering Program for Professionals (EPP). The discipline of nanotechnology revolves around technological advances in the study of the structure of materials at the atomic level. Johns Hopkins has introduced weekday as well as weekend classes to enable working professionals to study nanotechnology engineering. The INBT has drawn more than 140 faculty members. It focuses its research on three main areas: diagnostics and therapeutics, health and environment, and cellular and molecular dynamics.
