Creating a ''work triangle'' in your kitchen can cut down on excess movement by centering your work space. The work triangle concept is defined by the National Kitchen and Bath Association as a triangle created between the stove, the refrigerator and the sink.

The triangle concept is merely a planning tool for a better balanced kitchen. Not all designs can accommodate an ideal work triangle.

No obstacles, such as traffic or cabinetry, should cross through the triangle design.
Distance between appliances should be between 4 ft. and 9 ft.
The sum of the triangle's three sides should measure between 12 ft. and 26 ft.
